Techman Robot has introduced the TM30S, a new collaborative robot arm designed specifically for palletizing tasks. This latest addition to the Taiwan-based company’s AI-driven TM cobot series, features a substantial maximum payload of 35 kg (77.16 lbs) and an extensive reach of 1,702 mm (67.01 in) across six joints.
The TM30S is equipped with integrated smart vision and a 3D camera, utilizing 3D and AI recognition technologies to identify the size and position of items. This allows the robot to efficiently arrange items without predefined stacking patterns, and to handle complex tasks such as tilting, fitting, and tape wrapping. The TM30S is touted as being particularly effective for AI-driven mixed case palletizing.
Designed to be versatile, the TM30S is suitable for a variety of applications, including packaging, pick-and-place operations, material handling, and heavy machine tending. Techman highlights the cobot’s contribution to automated production efficiency in smart manufacturing settings, featuring enhanced smart vision, peripheral software integration, and a user interface that is more intuitive than previous models.
Techman and OMRON: Evolving Partnerships and Competitive Dynamics
Techman has been strategically partnered with OMRON since 2018, a collaboration aimed at addressing the growing automation demands driven by global labor shortages. OMRON has been distributing Techman’s TM series cobots globally and co-developed a mobile manipulator that integrates OMRON’s mobile robots with the TM series arms.
In 2021, OMRON further cemented this relationship by acquiring a 10% stake in Techman Robot, with a focus on jointly developing innovative robotic solutions that marry OMRON’s factory automation technologies with Techman’s collaborative robots.
However, recent developments have brought some uncertainty to this partnership. Last month, OMRON announced a new partnership with NEURA Robotics, introducing “cognitive robots” at Automate 2024. This move has prompted speculation about the future of OMRON’s collaboration with Techman.
Despite these uncertainties, an OMRON spokesperson affirmed that the partnership with Techman remains strong and that the TM cobots continue to be a vital component of their product lineup, stating, “The NEURA partnership will not impact our partnership with Techman. We continue working with Techman, and the TM cobot is still a big part of our cobot series.”
